Ave Dulcissima
Beltà, poi che t'assenti
Ecco, moriro dunque
Illumina faciem tuam
Laboravi in gemitu meo
Luci Serene e Chiare
Merce grido piangendo
Moro, lasso, al mio duolo
O Vos Omnes
Omnes amici mei
Peccantem me quotidie
Plange quasi virgo
Se la mia morte brami
Sospirava il mio core
Sparge La Morte
Tenebrae factae sunt
Tribulationem et dolorem
Tristis est anima mea

Carlo Gesualdo - Sicut Ovis Ad
Occisionem
Movie Description from YouTube
Carlo Gesualdo (1566 - 1613): SICUT OVIS AD OCCISIONEM Carlo Gesualdo, known as Gesualdo da Venosa, Prince of Venosa and Count of Conza, was an Italian music composer, lutenist and nobleman of the late Renaissance. He is famous for his intensely expressive madrigals, which use a chromatic language not heard again until the 19th century; and also for committing what are amongst the most notorious murders in musical history, as in 1590, he murdered his wife and her lover. According to certain sources, it was a crime of unusual violence. A myth says that he did not compose any music until after the crime, that is supposed to have unleashed or generated creative impulses in him. This piece is Responsory no. 1 of Gesualdo's "Responsories of the Office of Tenebrae of Holy Saturday" (Sabbato Sancto). Responsory: Sicut ovis ad occisionem ductus est, et dum male tractaretur, non aperuit os suum: Traditus est ad mortem: Ut vivificaret populum suum. Verse: Tradidit in mortem animam suam, et inter iniquos reputatus est. Responsory repeated: Ut vivificaret populum suum. Responsory: He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and while they treated him ill, he opened not his mouth: He was lead to his death: That his people might live. Verse: He gave up his soul to death, and was counted among the wicked. Responsory repeated: That his people might live. Ensemble Vocal Européen de La Chapelle Royale Directed by Philippe Herreweghe
